There are two options for using twitter:

  • Following TraumaCentral will provide you will real-time "tweets" when this site is updated. If you are not already registered with twitter, you will need to do so. Don't worry, it is free. To follow TraumaCentral, click the image below:

  • Following TraumaTrekster will get you "tweets" and "re-tweets" that may be helpful to responders in the field. Daily I follow several disaster-related tweeters who are in the field or associated with a variety of responding groups (including the media). I try to avoid personal stories of the dead as these can make the work of body recovery difficult for workers tasked with those duties. I also try to stay out of some of the controversies that can develop during disaster responses -- unless it seems that it might be important for responders to be aware of what is going on and/or being said. These tweets may include weather information, disaster updates or situation reports, and links to handouts or other disaster-related materials. Sometimes these tweets will include information related to other responses or developing situations in other locales -- if you choose to follow, you are responsible for selecting the tweets that pique your interest.
